Two attackers, one man and a woman, opened fire on a checkpoint near the Çağlayan Court. They killed two people and injured five others, including three police officers, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on X.
He said that the assailants were killed in a shootout with the police, and that an investigation was underway.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, but Turkish officials blamed the “terrorist act” on the leftist armed group Revolutionary People’s Liberation Party/Front (DHKP-C).
